A dishwasher has three jobs: fill with hot water, spray it hard, and drain it away. Almost every fault is one of those three breaking down, and the symptom tells us which.
Standing water in the bottom after a cycle is the most common call we get. It is usually a clogged filter, a blocked drain hose, a failed drain pump, or a plugged air gap. On units tied into a garburator, a new disposal that still has the knock-out plug in place will also stop the dishwasher draining. We find the blockage rather than just bailing it out.
Poor cleaning points to clogged spray arm jets, a worn wash pump, or water that never gets hot enough because of a failed heating element or thermostat. Hard water scale in the Metro Vancouver supply builds up on the arms and jets over time, so a good clean often brings performance back before any part is needed.
Leaks trace to the door gasket, a cracked spray arm, a loose or split hose, or a pump seal. A door that leaks only on certain cycles usually means a worn lower door seal or a tub that is overfilling because of a stuck float or inlet valve.
No power or a dead panel is often the door latch switch, the inlet valve, or the control board. A cycle that stalls partway usually means the heating circuit or the control board. We read the fault code, confirm the real cause, and replace only what has failed.
A musty smell is almost always trapped food in the filter or standing water that will not drain. Clearing the filter and fixing the drain fault removes the source rather than masking it.
Bosch, Miele, KitchenAid, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Maytag, Electrolux, Thermador and more, including panel-ready and integrated models.
Filters, spray arms, drain pumps and door seals are inexpensive and quick, so those repairs almost always make sense. A failed control board or wash motor on an older machine is where the maths gets closer, and we give you the honest number before any work starts. The $79 service call is waived when you go ahead with the repair.

The price to repair your dishwasher varies on many different factors. The cost depends on the issue that needs to be repaired, the model of the dishwasher, and the parts that are needed.
This depends on the total cost of the repair versus the cost of buying a new dishwasher. If the cost of the repair is higher than the value of the dishwasher, it would not be worth it to continue with the repair. A service technician will be able to assess the issue with the dishwasher and help you determine if it’s worth it to continue with the repair or purchase a new one.
The average lifespan of a dishwasher is 10-15 years when maintained properly.
