What the dryer was doing
The complaint was simple: the dryer wouldn’t start. The machine is a Whirlpool Duet, model YWED9400SW0, and the rating plate confirmed it was the electric version on a 4-wire connection. We checked that plate first because the model number decides which parts will fit.
What we found inside
With the top panel lifted, we followed the wiring harness from the cabinet up to the control assembly. The main control board sits in a white plastic housing. We pulled the board out of that housing and checked it. The board was damaged, and a dryer can’t start a cycle without a working one, so replacing it was the only fix.

Why the repair stopped at the diagnosis
The replacement board for this model is listed as no longer available. Without a replacement board, there was no part to install. The diagnosis took about 30 minutes.
