Electric dryers run off heating coils that are powered by electricity and generally operate on a 240-volt current. This is two times the strength of a household current, which is why there are generally bigger outlets in the laundry room. Electric dryers are easier to install than gas dryers, and can simply be installed by the homeowner.

This depends on the total cost of the repair and age of the dryer versus the cost of buying a new dryer. If the cost of the repair is higher than the value of the dryer, it would not be worth it to continue with the repair. If you need help figuring out if it is worth it to repair your dryer, a service technician can assist you.
If your dryer is not working, the first thing you can do is check to see if it is still plugged in correctly, and check the thermal fuse for continuity – if it shows no continuity, it will need to be replaced. There are other issues that can cause your dryer to stop working, but it is best to be assessed correctly by a technician.
You will have to check to see if the fuse is still working or not. You can do this by unplugging your dryer and locating the thermal fuse. Once you have located the fuse, disconnect it from the wires and use a multimeter to check the fuse for continuity. If it does not show continuity, the fuse has blown and needs to be replaced.
If your dryer is not drying your clothes it could be a number of different issues, but the easiest thing to check yourself is the air vents and ducts. Sometimes these air vents can become clogged and cause poor airflow in the dryer. If the air vent is not clogged and your dryer is still not drying, it’s best to have a technician come take a look at your dryer.
