When the fridge thinks the door is open

The freezer on this Thermador is a pull-out drawer at the bottom. Its door rides on two slides, and a support on each side holds the door to its slide. The right-hand support was the one that had to go.

The door switch tells the fridge whether the freezer is shut. When that switch stops reading properly, the control panel can’t trust what it sees. On this fridge the display was showing a “Please close door” warning.

Support and switch, both replaced

We fitted a new right support and a new switch assembly. Then we slid the basket back onto its rails and checked that the door ran in and out smoothly and closed flush.

Self-test passed, temperatures back to normal

Next we ran the fridge’s own self-test. It finished with “Self-test successful”, and the display settled at 3°C in the fridge and -18°C in the freezer. The basket went back in with the customer’s ice.
