Bosch Coffee Machine Repair

A Bosch coffee machine that will not brew is usually pointing to one of three places: the water pump, the brew unit, or the grinder. Error 1 or Error 3 on the display means the pump is not pushing water through properly, Error 8 means the brew unit has jammed mid-cycle, and beans left whole in the hopper with the grinder running points to Error 5. Descaling clears some of these faults; a stuck or jammed brew unit usually needs a technician.

Weak or no froth is almost always a blocked milk line or nozzle, or milk that is too warm or low-fat to aerate well. Bosch machines with an automatic milk system also need the line flushed and cleaned after every use per the built-in cleaning cycle; skipping that step is the most common cause of a frother that gradually stops working.

Bosch machines use numbered error codes tied to specific systems: Error 1 and Error 3 point to the water pump, Error 5 and Error 7 point to the grinder, Error 8 points to the brew unit, and Error 2 or Error 6 point to a temperature or heating fault. CALC, FILL BEANS, and EMPTY DRIP TRAY are maintenance prompts rather than faults. A cooldown and a Calc’nClean cycle resolve some of these; a repeating pump or brew unit code usually means a worn part needs replacing.
